This Thursday marks our second Thanksgiving in San Diego. Again, it will be just the two of us. As sad as that sounds, we really enjoy this day. We love cooking together and having a whole day built around food and eating (and giving thanks of course). Angela loves reflecting. This is something I learned about her very quickly and it happens to be one of my favorite things about her. She loves to play a little game called 'Roses & Thorns' on Sunday nights where we each choose our roses of the weekend (the good things) and our thorns (the not-so-good things). It sounds very summer-camp but it's a nice little game of reflection. I'm sure we'll play a gratitude version of this on Thursday.
Here is a peak at our ALL VEGAN menu: (which may change slightly by then.)
Wild Rice Stuffed Squash
Shepherd's Pie
Stuffing, of course!
Mmmm. Pumpkin Pie. Can't go without it!
Looks Fabulous! I love your passion for Veganism and Animal welfare. So inspiring!
ReplyDeleteDelish! We'll be having Thanksgiving just the two of us too, and the cats of course. We planned the menu this weekend: tofurkey & gravy (once a year treat!), vegan green bean casserole, roasted garlic mashed potatoes, pretzel rolls, and baked apples. I'm so excited to have a day with nothing to do but cook, spend time together, and reflect. R has a tradition of asking what the best part of a day has been. It's a daily way to focus on the positive of a day, so often we focus on what did not go well or what was bad.
ReplyDeleteoh man.
ReplyDeleteYUM.
YUM.
YUM!
Bring on THURSDAY!!!!!!!
Those potatoes and kale look soooooooo goooooood.... I love mashed taters and I love kale, but I've never put 'em together!
ReplyDelete@ AJ- Pretzel rolls!? Please pass that recipe along! I want to make those.
ReplyDeleteI am very excited about Thursday. :) I hope everyone has a wonderful holiday!
Oh that stuffing looks killer!
ReplyDeleteI'll definitely share if they come out well (and even if they don't!). Check on Friday for a special Black Friday Food Porn Edition.
ReplyDeleteI heart kale and mashed potatoes soooo much!
ReplyDeleteAnd I love the "Roses and Thorns" exercise! It's so important to think about what's going right instead of focusing on what goes wrong and to be grateful for it. How wonderful that you two do the exercise together, too.
Yum all around! That stuffing....mmmmmmm!
ReplyDeleteThe mashed potatoes with kale looks fantastic! I'm always curious to see what other vegans eat on a holiday that is generally less-than-vegan-friendly.
ReplyDeleteyummy!! I love thanksgiving because my mom makes HUGE helpings of everything!! :)
