The Lunch Hour Quickie

If you are one of the millions of americans that has a 9-5 desk job then you rarely see the light of day this time of year.  It can become quite depressing.  All of my runs happen after work, in the dark, when myenergy feels like it has been zapped.  I've become desperate for a little sun on my face. I could run in the morning at sunrise, but let's face it, I am just not a morning person no matter how hard I try.

Today, I decided to try something new.  I packed some cous-cous and chickpeas for lunch along with my run clothes.  When my lunch hour hit I was out the door immediately with Ang.  We are that rare couple that works only 3 blocks from one another so we have this luxury.  I learned that I can squeeze almost 6.5 miles in during my one hour break!  I can't believe I didn't figure it out sooner.  The perfect running course is just a block away.  Balboa Park, the same route I run from home.  I need to be super fast in the apparel changing process and the clean-up afterward, but it's completely worth the rush.  It's like a race against the clock.
In case you're wondering when I shower, I don't.  No time for such hygenic practices.  Instead, I use soap and water to clean all sweaty areas and take a shower when I get home.  It may not be the most fresh way to end the day, but heck, I squeezed 6 1/2 miles in (including 6 Yasso's) before 5:00.   That is priceless.

This is not a viable option for every nine-to-fiver but if you have the opportunity, seize the hour!  Squeeze in a run, even if it's a quickie.

The sun was shining brightly today, the sky a bright blue with a light wind to fan me off.  I got my daily dose of Vitamin D and I feel fantastic.

Satisfaction.

Happy Friday, Everyone!
