Sushi inspired dessert.
Well, the food just kept on coming. One sushi roll after another and one basket of tempura after another. By the time we left, I felt like I needed someone to wheel me out. It was pretty amazing, but I am sure I gained 5 lbs in the process. We also had the chance to play with these two kitty babies! We were basically in heaven.

Yesterday, Ang and I drove up to LA to see the U.S. Women's National Team. You know, those girls that I am obsessed with. The ones that won gold in London. Yeah, they're pretty amazing. They played against Australia in the brutal heat. I was dripping sweat in the stands and felt so bad that they had to run around for 90 minutes in the sun. Regardless, they won! Of course. 2-1. It was fun to see them up close and personal since I usually just stalk all of the players online (twitter, facebook, etc.)

Alex Morgan gettin' it!
I haven't run more than 13 miles in over a month, so I am very pleased that I have no soreness, stiffness, or pain after my 16 miler this weekend. Maybe it was the freezing cold dip in the ocean afterward. I didn't foam roll or stretch afterward, so it must have been the ocean. Today is my flex day, so I was able to lazily drink coffee and read blogs all morning. I love this flex schedule I have. I work an extra hour each day to have every other Monday off. How great is that? The heat wave has passed so I don't need to seek refuge in A/C somewhere. However, I was a bit peeved that we are out of soy coffee creamer. It was really cramping my style this morning. #firstworldproblems.
I hung out with my friend Shyle today and her baby boy. Shyle took me to the library so I could get my own, official library card and stop paying for books. I read about 6 books this past month and those suckers add up! Thanks to Shyle, I will be saving some serious dough!

My library card!!
***
I just finished a run on the treadmill while watching the season premier of Glee. Any fans out there? I'm so glad it's back on. It's one of the few shows that has me smiling from ear to ear. I also listened to the mix Angela made for her spin class last night and found my new favorite running song! It's by David Guetta featuring Tegan & Sara called "Every Chance We Get We Run." How perfect is that? Go download it now (or listen to it on Spotify if you're smart and have realized there is no longer a reason to download music). So that's 2 things I just gave you to do. #1) Check out Spotify if you don't already use it. You will thank me big time. #2) Listen to my running anthem. :)

What is your favorite running song right now?
Please share! I always need new music ideas!
Happy Monday!

How did I never hear of this song? I feel like a failure. And it must have been the heat that melted our muscles because I too, have been lacking on the long run department and felt pretty stellar after my run on Sat. I kicked out 5 this morning at a pretty clippy pace and felt great afterward. Strange...
ReplyDeleteIsn't that strange? I'm not complaining! Whatever works! :)
DeleteWant to know what a nerd I am? I have my library card # memorized. I love the library. I think it's my favorite place.
ReplyDeleteI have always loved bookstores but the library is a whole new paradise. It's like a bookstore where all of the books are FREE! I am extremely excited about this.
DeleteThanks for the song! I love Tegan & Sara though admit I haven't listened to anything in years.
ReplyDeleteI live in LA (near the beach) and in all my training runs never once thought to jump in the ocean after (and I train on the strand, so basically, ON THE BEACH). Genius. Totally doing that next time I'm training! Beats ice cubes in the bathtub!
ReplyDeleteYou have to do it! It's amazing!
DeleteEver since my iPod died, I'm just listening to the cardio workout station on Pandora. I actually like it a whole lot better than my iPod! I never get bored listening to the same songs. AND it's free. :)
ReplyDeleteAlso, I LOVE the Women's Soccer team. Sooooo jealous you got to see them play!!!
Awesome that you got to see the US women against Australia! Cool that you live by the Home Depot center, up in the bay area they don't have any sort of US national team games because we don't have a good stadium for it. Not sure if I told you, but I went to the US vs Japan womens soccer Olympic final, it was my favorite event in London. Amazing hearing the national anthem among all the red, white and blue in the stands.
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm a huge fan of Glee, I thought season 3 was not very good, but they are off to a start this year with the covers so far - It's Time, Never Say Never, and of course Call Me Maybe lol.
No way! You got to see that game? Amazing! I am extremely jealous.
DeleteI agree about the last season of Glee. I wasn't very into it. But this season is off to a great start and I think Kate Hudson is a great addition.
MY DEAR FRIEND!! I have so much to say to you:) First, I LOVE your treadmill set-up and I wish we could run on ours right next to each other:) You look gorgeous in all of your pictures and I LOVE the library. So glad you got to go to the game, I bet it was a blast. Now I NEED some of that 'sushi'! Hope you are having an amazing day!
ReplyDeleteWe do have twin treadmills! How fun would that be?
DeleteThe suchi krispies are just adorable...I think I could eat them all! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy to hear you had a pain-free run. I wish I had a cold ocean to jump in after, sounds so therapeutic!!!! I hope your runs remain pain-free, that foot stuff just royally sucks! Happy librarying! :)
The foot stuff does royally suck. If anyone understands that, it's YOU! My darn plantar fascia is really hurting lately.
DeleteThe sushi rice crispies were DELICIOUS!
My favourite song is an old one...Wolf Like Me by TV on the Radio.
ReplyDeleteThe rice crispy sushi looks yummy and fun!

So jealous you got to go see the US women play soccer. I love those stripy uniforms too, BTW. And I really liked Alex in all her interviews during the Olympics. She seemed so down to earth and humble, considering she is so freaking awesome.
ReplyDeletethanks for sharing.
