Things That Make Me Happy

One of my all time favorite bloggers, Amanda, just posted an entire list of things that make her happy.  She asked us all to name 5 things that make us happy, and in doing so, I felt, well, HAPPY.  I decided, I might as well make my own list of happies.  And you should too!

Things That Make Me Happy:

  •  That first cup of coffee in the morning
  • Seeing my dog, Holly, wagging her tail when I walk through the door
  • Independently owned coffee shops
  • Pumpkin flavored anything
  • A good book, a comfy couch and a warm blanket
  • Chipotle burrito bowls --  They never disappoint.
  • Scarves
  • Goodreads.com
  • Running and everything that comes with it (except injuries)
  • When a new magazine comes in the mail--  It's like Christmas morning.
  • Being around people that genuinely try to make the world a better place.  Luckily, that is just about every day of my life.
  • My truly amazing friends who appreciate me for the weirdo that I am
  • Running blogs
  • The Lumineers  (The entire Lumineers station on Pandora, for that matter)
  • Watching Parenthood with Angela and crying.  I know that sounds like an oxymoron but I like a good cry.
  • Peonies
  • The orange tabby cat that lives in our neighborhood-- She is a purr monster.
  • Angela's blue eyes
  • NPR
  • Buying a new journal
  • Barack Obama
  • Talking to my mom on the phone
  • Napping
  • Perusing bookstores and libraries
  • Watching documentaries while eating salty popcorn-- This also includes the aforementioned comfy couch and warm blanket.
  • Ellen
  • Every dog that crosses my path
  • Getting cards or letters in the mail
  • The ocean
  • Websites like Jezebel.com that make me LOL
  • Impromptu gym dates
  • Road trips
  • Seeing old, wrinkly, married couples that are still so in love
  • Bread. Any kind. Any way.
Don't worry, I didn't actually expect you to read all of those.  It just made me feel really good to think about all of the wonderful things in life.  Have at it!

Coffee from a Santa Barbara coffee shop.
Reading + the ocean = Bliss
Couldn't go a day without my NPR.
This trail makes me pretty darn happy.

Tell me 3 things that make you exceptionally happy!

    1. Caroline! You need to jump on the NPR bandwagon! National Public Radio. You won't regret it. I highly recommend the program, Fresh Air with Terry Gross. :)

  10. GIve me FIVE reasons you "like" Obama. five. cuz I just do not understand how anyone could vote for him again after the mess he's made in the past 4 years. I guess you drank the ole kool-aid about him and believed all his lies. The man's unamerican. So many things people dont know about him. Go see Obama's 2016

    1. I can handle a little opposition. :) 5 reasons (although there are MANY more): He repealed Don't Ask, Don't Tell, he was the first president to come out publicly in support of same-sex marriage, he signed the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act, he signed the Children's Health Insurance Reauthorization Act (which provides health care to 11 million kids -- 4 million of whom were previously uninsured), and finally, 3 very important words: Health Care Reform.

  12. I love this list for many reasons--many b/c I can totally relate, and most b/c they are so darn simple! It really is the small things in life.

And who's this anonymous person above? At least put your name to it for crying out loud!

    1. why do I have to put my name on it? she gives the option of anonymity. so what?? She mentioned Obama on a PUBLIC blog so why am I not allowed to ask for 5 reasons he's on her favorites list? I dont have a blog. My name is Kerry. I live in GA and i have an 8 year old son named Joseph. I love running and found her blog because of running. I think she has a GREAT blog here and just because we differ politically doesnt mean I wont come back here. I am just trying to figure out how anyone could vote for this man again after this past 4 years!

    2. Kerry, I have a feeling most of my readers are actually on the conservative side, and I am fine with that. I love that we can have different political views and still LIKE one another. I read mormon blogs, gay blogs, and everything in between. :)

      Run happy!
