Some friends and I went to a bar in Little Italy last night to watch the results come in. I knew we'd either be ending the night drinking our sorrows away or we'd be enjoying many celebratory cocktails. I'm so happy it was the latter.

| I don't normally go out of the house looking a mess, but yesterday was worth it. |

The other good news is now that the election is over, I no longer have to waste my precious time getting into political arguments with family members on Facebook. That was exhausting.
Onto marathon talk...
Thank you for sharing some of your mantras on my last post. I will definitely be stealing some of those on Saturday. My favorites were "embrace the uncomfortable" and "you've got more than you think you do."
I am getting extremely nervous. I've been eating a lot of chocolate the last few days to counteract my nerves -- NOT working, by the way. I'm kind of a mess right now. I am hoping everything comes together on Saturday and it is as magical as Surf City was in 2011.
A high of 62!? Perfect! Thank you, mama earth!
Marathon Mantra #2
This will probably be my mantra at 20+ miles
when I don't have enough energy for anything profound.
3 more days....

Best of luck this weekend!! Can't wait to see how it pans out for you - I know you will kill it. I love "Embrace the suck" and "pain is temporary."
ReplyDeleteI'll be stalking you!
Look at that forecast! Couldn't be any more perfect. You're gonna crush it.
ReplyDeleteAnd I might be just a little proud that my state made history with the gay marriage referendum yesterday. Love my thoroughly blue state!
So glad to see the weather is going to cooperate and bring you perfect marathon conditions. That is something that is clearly out of your control...and now it looks like it will be one less thing to worry about! Can't wait to read your race report. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteIts all coming together for ya! Rock it girl!
ReplyDeleteI like that last mantra. Just run! And "you've got more than you think you do" is one of mine too. Except in my mind I worded it "you're capable of more than you think you are." And I say it to a weird rhythm.
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm a red voter for fiscal reasons, but I was glad to hear about the tide changing on gay marriage in many states. My state, on the other hand, just voted down an amendment to take racist language out of the state constitution, but the vote against the amendment was led by black community leaders. There must be something more there that I just don't get. All of that to say that we are a long way from movement on gay marriage.
Now go kick butt at your race!
Good luck girl! Just run. breath. Go with what your body is giving you and don't let your mind get in the way but instead, bring it along for the run. Yay! You've got this.
ReplyDeleteHave so much fun! Can't wait to read your race recap :)
ReplyDeleteIt was such a great night for politics- Obama, gay marriage in a couple states, prop 30... Sitting up until 1 refreshing the prop page was definitely worth it. Good luck this weekend!
ReplyDeleteWishing you the best for your marathon...
ReplyDeleteall happy, pain free, fast Miles!!
Wishing you all sorts of good things for your marathon.
ReplyDeleteI like your Obama shirt and that you own getting in political arguments on facebook!
