Our girls' night in on Saturday involved homemade personal pizzas, Scattergories (which I dominated) and watching Clueless, my favorite movie from the 90s. It's even funnier than I remembered!
Look at those kneading skills! |
Me, Danielle and my boring pizza. This is my weekend look -- no make-up and workout clothes. I'm lucky my friends can stand to look at me. ;-)
Rebecca's masterpiece. She definitely won the prize for Best Pizza.
I also completed my first long run of Boston training this weekend! It was 12 miles of sheer joy. I felt so grateful to be out there. My friends, Susan and Joey, were kind enough to join me on their bikes. We met up afterwards for some Fro-Yo deliciousness.
I got see these lovely faces after 12 miles:
My beautiful path
Coronado Island. Flat as a pancake.
I called it an early night and watched Unbreakable in bed. I never get tired of that movie! I so wish I could be friends with Tony Krupicka and those guys. It makes me want to move to Colorado and run in the mountains. But then I remember CO has snow and cold weather and the idea quickly goes out the window.
I spent MLK Jr. morning enjoying coffee outside with my dear friend, Rebecca, and going to the dog park. The afternoon was spent yet again on my friend Susan's deck in the sun. Later, Rebecca and I hung out at one of our favorite coffee shops, Influx in Little Italy, and then cooked an insanely delicious dinner together. It was definitely picture-worthy but I was far too hungry and excited to snap a photo. We made portobello mushroom ravioli with sauteed collard greens and sweet potatoes topped with fresh chives and lemon zest. It was to die for!
Did you have MLK Jr. Day off?
What is the weather like in your neck of the woods?
It's going to be 79 degrees here today!

It snows in Colorado and is cold, but most of the time is gorgeous and sunny during the day! You would love it. True Story: Tony and I were grad students in the same department at the University of Colorado, but I barely saw him (he was out running ALL the time-I think I saw him on the trails more than on campus).
ReplyDeleteThat is so funny! Of course he was out running ALL the time. How neat that you were in the same department. You're both smarty pants!
DeleteI know I would love Colorado. It's on my list of places to visit since I've never been. When I look at photos, my jaw drops. Can you imagine how in awe I would be if I was physically there?
Coronado is such a great place to run! Every time I visit home I am so spoiled by the flat sidewalks and mild temps.
ReplyDeleteNear DC: 19 degrees right now. Wind chill = 5. Yes, Fahrenheit. How is that even possible with the sun shining brightly?
ReplyDeleteYou do live in Paradise!
I am INSANELY jealous of you and your weather right now. Why the hell do I stay somewhere where my run meant facing single digit windchills today?
ReplyDeleteLooks like an awesome weekend! So glad your long run went well. You are on your way!!!
Okay, you are reaching the point of being just plain mean with your talk of 79 degrees! Here I am, freezing my butt off in 30 degree temps for weeks on end, working as hard as I can to convince myself that I love cold weather running and then I have to read about your 79 degrees on here and on FB! Ha! You are one very lucky girl to get that kind of weather in January. :)
ReplyDeleteSo happy to hear you had a good run. I also ran 12 miles but I was taking pictures along the way of frozen spider webs while you were taking pics of palm trees!
I love your weekend look. That is pretty much my every-single-day look! In fact, I'm wearing my purple I Run This Body t-shirt right now but with a long-sleeve white shirt underneath it to combat the cold. Anyway, love your update and I will respond to your message on FB shortly, too. Hope our plan works out. :)
If we ever have the opportunity to meet, you can add a game of Scattergories to the list of things we're gonna do! I LOVE that game!!!!!! That's always the first thing I suggest when we have people over. I even took it with us when we met our friends in the mountains for the weekend last month. lol
ReplyDeleteI had yesterday off, too, but it wasn't nearly as much fun as yours. I spent half the day in the vet's office! :\
I'm so happy you're in such a happy place right now. It makes me happy just reading your happy posts! Happy, happy, happy!!! :)
It is 7 degrees right now in Chicagoland. The only positive is that we still don't have snow or ice. Why, oh why, can't I move somewhere warm???
ReplyDeleteIt's beautiful here in Texas. We usually do not get this weather until March. It's cold in the morning and foggy (But manageable) and then it gets up in to the 60s with sunshine and a light breeze. Perfect running weather. I didn't have MLK day off. I wish.
