I Love These Women!

Happy Monday, friends!  I am feeling great this morning after reading an array of positive blog posts from some of my favorite bloggers.  I love positive people with positive attitudes.  I can't handle negativity, even though I fall victim to a negative attitude from time to time.  I make an effort to surround myself with positive people who enjoy the beautiful, simple things in life.  I've found some kindred spirits in the blogosphere and I thought I'd share some link love this morning so you can fall in love with these positive women, too.

Fun Loving Kirsten

Today, my fellow San Diegan writes about living your life and not waiting for the perfect man/woman, the perfect job or the perfect circumstances.  I love it!  I know this rad chick in real life and she is as cool as she seems in her blog.  Kirsten blogs about her quest for the eternal sunshine.  She's fashionable, fit and fun but also super down to earth and positive.  Love her to pieces!

Running Mama, Amanda

Amanda wrote all about SAYING YES today.  Reading this was a great way to start my Monday.  I find Amanda to be one of the most thoughtful, positive bloggers out there.  I always find inspiration in her writing and the experiences she shares.

  Positive Petra

Amanda got her inspiration for today's blog post from Petra, who recently returned from a life-changing trip to Indonesia. This woman radiates positivity!  I wish I could meet her in real life, but she lives across the pond.

Brand New Blogger, Amy!

Amy is a fellow San Diego running blogger.  I have the pleasure of knowing Amy in real life, and I am thrilled that she started blogging publicly.  She has so much insight to offer the blogging world.  Amy is fun, smart and super positive.  You will love her and her brand new blog, The Runner's Hi.

Amy summarizes her blog like this:

I'm on a mission to bring back the runner's wave. Let's make some eye contact, and maybe even smile at each other. Let's engage with our communities, connect with our neighbors, and notice what's going on around us. Shoot up a hand, give me a nod, or even just grunt in my general direction if that's all you've got. I'm not just out there for the runner's high. I also want the runner's "hi."

If these blogs don't get your week started off right, I don't know what will.  I hope you check out all of these fabulous ladies and find some inspiration in their writing.

I'm off to have an awesome Monday.  I hope you do, also!

P.S.  On Friday, I had my first double digits run in months!  It was a fabulous 10 miler.  Wahoo! I'm back!  And Boston training starts today.  More on that later...

  1. Hey so happy that I inspired you - like you, I'm not always positive but I turn my body and head and heart that way and eventually my spirit always follows! Inspiring blogs help - enormously! As for us not meeting up - girlfriend, don't say that! I'm determined to go and race in the US again soon and who knows where I'll end up? And you'll always have a base here!

  2. Aw, thanks Kate. You're one of those bloggers for me. So excited to read some of these that I haven't known about. Thanks for being a positive in my life...even when facing negatives. I'm not always feeling so positive but I try to keep on living and embracing where I am at when I'm there.

    1. You definitely do. We all face challenges and can all fall into the negative trap. What matters is that we make a conscious effort to find the positive in every situation. You're great at that!

  3. Definitely going to check them out. I love blogs that are full of inspiration and positivity. Doesn't have to be all the time, but someone who approaches life with a desire to make things better, enjoy people, be a good person, etc.

    2. Exactly, Christine! Don't get me wrong, when I'm stressed, I complain. When I'm irritated, I rant. But then I remind myself to stay positive. It's not about perfection, just trying our best to stay positive in light of all of the negativity in this world.

  6. Great choices! And I am unfamiliar with Amy since she's new, so thanks for turning me onto her. I agree, bloggers who spread some sunshine are worth spending time with (hate ending on a dangling participle!).

So excited for your Boston experience!

  8. Great post! I keep up with Petra and Amanda's blog, but just found yours. I have also added Amy's blog, as well. I try to give a nod to fellow runners whether they give it back to me or not.

  9. Thanks for introducing me to a couple new bloggers! Of course, I'm familiar with Amanda and have also read Petra's blog. But the other women are new to me and I can't wait to check them out. You and I have so much in common that I'm sure I will love their blogs, too!

Yours is one of my favorite blogs to read for the exact reason you love these other women -- you are so inspiring and positive yet always keep it real, too. xo

  10. Also, do you have any good veg recipe dinners for refueling before or after a run? One of my goals for 2013 is to go meatless twice a month. But I'm still so new to vegetarian dinners. Maybe you could post some...sometimes!

    1. I used to post a weekly Meatless Monday post, but stopped doing it because life got busy and I wasn't cooking as much. I need to get back into that. I'll keep you posted!

  13. Can't wait to check these blogs out! I'm totally on board with the runner's wave! My husband went to college in Hawaii and he noticed that when we were there last summer not as many people do the hang loose hand sign to eachother in passing anymore, which made me think of how little people actually notice or casually interact anymore in general. as a runner i always try to wave, nod or say hello to everyone I pass... those simple gestures can have such a positive impact on a person's day! and even if it doesn't, I feel good knowing that I'm making the effort :) Yesterday I saw a woman probably in her 70s run past me in jeans and carrying a backpack, we smiled at eachother, somehow acknowledging eachother as runners. I loved that moment!

    1. It's funny, but I noticed that in another way. I'm from the South and on the country roads...no matter what, we knew instantly which car was not from there. On the country roads, we always passed by eachother with a nod or a wave to the other car. They would always respond back. I never see that anymore. It's sad really.
