What is dorkier than a long distance runner in their running gear? I can't think of anything.
Check out this sweet outfit.
I couldn't resist taking a picture of my ridiculousness. As you can see from the picture, I was wearing a blue and orange tank, with black and purple shorts, compression sleeves, a white hat, and the brightest blue running shoes. There is nothing right about this outfit, but hey, I don't claim to be a fashionista. I'm a runner. Strap on a fuel belt, and this outfit gets even better.
Despite my nerdy running outfit, my run was excellent! I planned to drive up north and either do a trail run or a coastal run, but as usual, I overslept. I decided to run my 16 miles from home instead. The benefit to running from home is that I see a variety of landscapes, and I don't have to sit in the car after my 2 hour sweat fest.
1.5 miles from my front door, I have a view of downtown and the bay.
I eventually hit the trails for a few miles. These stairs are killer!
I made my way downtown and to the harbor.
And eventually to Point Loma.
The final stretch of my run is a long incline up 6th Avenue.
I've done this run many, many times and it's definitely not my favorite. I guess I can't complain when I am able to run out my door and the scenery looks like this. It doesn't hurt that this is "winter" in SoCal. I'm seeing pictures on Facebook and Instagram of everyone training in sub-zero temps with snow! I feel so spoiled.
I followed up my 16 mile run with leftovers from Native Foods! Yes, I was back at it again this weekend. This time I went with Angela since she hasn't been to the Encinitas location yet.
Not pictured: The big bowl of Trader Joe's soy creamy vanilla ice-cream and chocolate chips that I enjoyed after this. It is my latest obsession.
I am madly in love with the Brooks Pure Project line. I've said it before, but I need to say it again. I've never felt better on a long run than I do in my Brooks Pure Cadence. I feel fast and light and my Plantar Fascia isn't killing me. I am still wearing the original Cadence. I have the purple Cadence 2s, but I am planning on wearing these until there's nothing left. They're broken in so perfectly. I wish they'd just last forever.

Thanks for reading this completely mindless post. I hope the pictures made it worthwhile.

Hey, I did a 16 miler today too! Glad we had good weather for it. And your running outfit is fabulous...kinda looks like the ones I put together ;)
ReplyDeleteMy run was fantastic...one of my best long runs to date!
Excellent!! Too bad we couldn't run TOGETHER!
DeleteMessage if you're ever in the LA area and I'll take you up on that! :)
DeleteOMG! You look gorgeous! Haha, I should have taken a pic of my outfit yesterday to run: Red, white and blue Portland Marathon long sleeve, green vest, black and pink tights. Incredible. I'm in love with this post, because I absolutely can't wait to live in SoCal so that I can run in outfits as cool as yours in February. I have to do so much laundry because of all my layers I wear! I love Native Foods too, I go there every chance I get! ~Leigh
ReplyDeleteYour outfit sounds amazing! Uhh, Native Foods is so addicting.
DeleteWait, you're moving to SoCal?
Your pictures were amazing. I did 15 on Friday and let's just say I was totally bundled up because it was 20 degrees here. I am definitely jealous of your warm weather gear.
ReplyDeleteNice work! You're way tougher than me. Kudos to you!
DeleteI love it! Your pictures are beautiful, love the scenery, we are so spoiled here in SoCal, last year at this time I was training in Northern Virginia in the freezing cold and snow, this year I haven't had anything on more than short sleeves, arm warmers and knickers, that was during our cold streak.
ReplyDeleteEver since you posted about Native Foods, I have been day dreaming about it, it looks unreal. One of these days we need to run together!
You need to try Native Foods. You will not be disappointed!
DeleteAnd yes, I would LOVE to run together.
We have it so rough! ;) My training run was the Surf City with a few of the other blogging ladies. So much fun!
ReplyDeleteYou look great! Who cares about mismatched stuff anyways?? I certainly don't.
ReplyDeleteAnd, I enjoy some posts with photos and "shadow casting" since I feel it connects me to the writer/blogger in a more personal way. If someone only writes about a topic (ie: running) without some of her own unique voice, pictures, opinions, etc then I feel like I am reading Runners World online. I enjoy reading Runners World, but a blog brings an individual and unique voice.
Thanks for that feedback!
DeleteI love mismatched totally nerdy running outfits! I feel more weird if I'm too matchy-matchy :) So I think your outfit was great! Beautiful pics!
ReplyDeleteI swear I was running through a photo shoot or something yesterday. I passed some of the most beautiful women looking completely flawless... and then there was me. HAHA!
DeleteI'm pretty sure I never match. Glad to see we're on the same page.

ReplyDeleteI am so jealous of your warm temperatures and scenery! I can not believe that is just right out of your door step. Maybe I need to come move in with you :)
ReplyDeleteYes! I need a running buddy! Come on over!
DeleteOur temperatures down here in Texas are amazing. It's like Spring (that's what my current post that I'm writing is all about). I feel really spoiled, but I know this won't last and that just means the heat will be here sooner than expected.
ReplyDeleteMy runs this weekend were great. After another long injury, I finally did a 3 mile run (two days). It felt good.
Yay for a 3 mile run! Injuries are the worst. The good thing is that they make you really appreciate running.
DeleteSo happy to hear you had a great run! You are so, so lucky to live in such a beautiful place with such amazing weather. I am about to head out for a run and it is 45 and cloudy here...feels more like high 30's to me right now. Ugh.
ReplyDeleteI love that tank top you are wearing. Where did you get it? You look gorgeous in your pic!
I want to hear more details about the self love retreat!! xo
I am getting so sick of my route too but it is absolutely gorgeous as well! I usually just run down the coast from Moonlight Beach into Del Mar and then back for my long runs. Occasionally I'll switch it up and go north to Carlsbad. I need to get motivated to drive to some new places to switch it up! Too bad you are too fast for me now - maybe one day we can meet up for a long run! :)
ReplyDeletewohoo for being on instagram, man do I love it.
ReplyDeletebeing a florida gal I can smile when I see your shorts and tank, but back when I lived in the midwest I'm pretty sure I would have hated you :) glad you had a great run!!
