3 Must-Read Beach Books

Reading in La Jolla this weekend
I love nothing more than waking up on a Saturday or Sunday, curling up on the couch with my coffee and toast, and diving right into a book.  I savor lazy weekend mornings but in the summer I make more of an effort to take my reading to the beach.  That's what summer is all about! And since summer officially begins this weekend I thought I'd share 3 great books that you must toss in your beach tote this summer.

Tigers in Red Weather

by Liza Klaussmann

The PERFECT book for the beach--This juicy, suspenseful novel takes place in the summer on Martha's Vineyard.  It's so riveting and sexy, I wasn't able to put it down.  I devoured Tigers in Red Weather in one weekend.  It is set on the brink of the 60's but has a Great Gatsby-ish feel. It sucks you in immediately and makes you want to read it with a dirty martini.

Me Before You

by Jojo Moyes

I love British novels and this one is no exception.  Me Before You manages to be funny, endearing and heartbreaking all at once. It is pretty predictable but a beautiful story nonetheless.  Get the tissues ready for this one...

The Illusion of Separateness

by Simon Van Booy

I was so excited when I found out Simon Van Booy came out with a second novel.  After reading Everything Beautiful Began After, I was dying for more. Van Booy is a literary genius.  This novel has beautiful prose, dynamic characters and a story line that comes perfectly full circle. The moment I finished, I wanted to start it all over again.  In short, I'm kind of obsessed with this guy and all of his writings.

Now, What beach reads do you recommend?

  2. Love the list! I believe that when the sun is shining and the beach is a bus ride away. All we need is some good beach books for ourselves and some sand games for our kids.
