Back At It + Kombucha Making

Damn, it feels so great to be running again!  The farthest I've gone is 5.5 miles, but heck, I will take it.  It's been euphoric and since I'm not training for anything, it's also care free and fun.  I was worried I would be super slow since I took over a month off but I think the Core40 classes, Orangetheory Fitness and indoor cycling have kept me in decent run shape.  My pace last night wasn't too shabby considering I'm just a week back in the game.

Now the goal is to stay healthy by stretching my calves on the daily, foam rolling my legs, and icing the crap out of my foot.  Sounds easy enough, right?  But every night it's like, gee where did the time go? I'll foam roll tomorrow...

I rolled after my run last night while the animals went crazy, as usual.

This may shock some of you, but in the short time I've been running again, I've already lost 1 1/2 toenails.  I don't think the 4 and 5 milers did it, I think they were just barely hanging on from my last marathon training cycle.  So just in time for summer, I have the world's ugliest feet.  

I'm super excited because this beautiful mushroom mother came in the mail the other day!  I am going to start brewing my own Kombucha and I cannot wait.  At $4 a bottle, it only makes sense to do it yourself.  Hopefully I get this whole thing right and can continuously make my own free of charge.  I bought my SCOBY (Symbiotic Colony Of Bacteria and Yeastfrom getkombucha.com and the guy who runs the site is super enthusiastic and responds almost immediately to any questions.  He also has a ton of videos to help you get started.  I will keep you posted on my adventures in kombucha making.

This SCOBY is 6 inches in diameter! Holy mother.
